How to Preserve Christmas Decorations?

There are several ways to keep the lights from becoming tangled while also safely storing them for the next Christmas season:

Make use of cardboard

Cut a piece of hard cardboard, such as one from a cardboard box; if it's too thin, the light will fold as you roll it around. Make a rectangle 30 inches long and 15 inches wide.
Cut a U-shaped notch on either side or width of the cover, large enough to accommodate one end of the string on one edge of the cover.
From one end of the card to the other, roll the light around it. This will make it easier to remove them the following year.
When the string is finished winding, make another U-shaped notch at the other end and insert the end.
Wrap the tissue paper around the light cord. To protect the string, roll a thin layer of tissue paper or two around the cardboard. This will keep the string from becoming damaged while being stored.

Make use of a clothes hanger

Get a plastic clothes hanger ready (the type with two small hooks on either side of the body is best). Other hangers can also be used. One end of the string should be attached to a small hook on the side. If you're using one without a side hook, tie one end of the string to the hook.
Roll the light around the hanger, gradually from side to side, and then back. This process may need to be repeated several times before you can fully wind the light.
Attach the other end of the light string to the other horizontal hook on the body of the clothes hanger.
After rolling the lights onto a clothes hanger, you can put them in a box or hang them somewhere to use again next year.
When storing the lamp with other items, wrap a tissue around it to protect it.
